Sezione tomistica

Does evolutionary theory stand against the doctrine of creation? Does God create through
evolution? What is the Thomistic view of creation and evolution? Is it possible for the
classical metaphysics and theology of divine action to accept the notion of species
transformism? Does the theological account of the creation of man and woman stand in
opposition to evolutionary anthropogenesis? Is theological anthropology challenged by
biological anthropology? Are young earth creationist and Intelligent Design movements
plausible? What was the history of the reception of the theory of evolution in the Catholic
Church? The class will address these and other related questions. The background in
natural science is not required.
