Content

The course is intended to introduce to Western Ancient Philosophy, following the chronological order. The first part covers the following topics:

  1. Presocratic Philosophers
  2. The birth of Metaphysics
  3. The Sophists
  4. Socrates and the socratics
  5. Plato

Studying Ancient Philosophers requires familiarity with their works: for this reason, a selection of texts, in English translation, will constitute the matter of presentation, reading and analysis guided by the teacher in class.
