This course will build on the lexical and grammatical introduction to the Latin language begun in the first two years of study. Emphasis will be placed on the reading and translation of Medieval texts, most especially Latin texts used in philosophy.

Students will be evaluated by two written examinations, one to be held before the Christmas vacation, the second during the exam period at the end of the semester. Translations in class may be given in English or Italian. Written work may be in English, Italian, Spanish, or French.

Questo corso si baserà sull’introduzione lessicale e grammaticale della lingua latina iniziata nei primi due anni di studio. L’accento sarà sulla lettura e sulla traduzione di testi medievali, in particolare ma non esclusivamente dei testi filosofici.

Gli studenti saranno valutati da due prove scritte, una che si terrà prima delle vacanze di Natale, il secondo durante il periodo di esami alla fine del semestre. Traduzioni in classe si possono presentare sia in italiano sia in inglese. Per i lavori scritti, si possono sottoporre in italiano, inglese, spagnolo, o francese.
