Content

In this seminar, we will examine the Medieval question whether God could make a better world or make this world to be better than it is. In addition to our exploration of texts in common (Peter Lombard, Bonaventure, Albert the Great, Thomas Aquinas, John Duns Scotus, and William of Ockham), participants will prepare and present engagements of this question by other Medieval philosophers. As most of these texts do not exist in translation, a reading knowledge of Latin is essential for participation in the seminar
