The Mystery of the Church: Insights from the Thomistic Tradition (Online)

The Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) sponsors several events each year and previously did not have a unified source of information about university events. The purpose of the Angelicum Events Calendar is to serve as a method for publicizing University-sponsored events that have been approved and scheduled.

The Mystery of the Church: Insights from the Thomistic Tradition

Online Lecture by Fr. Bernhard Blankenhorn, OP
Professor of Sacramental Theology & Ecclesiology

18 May 2021
7pm live from the Angelicum, Rome
7pm CET / 6pm GMT / 2pm EDT

From the early modern theologians Juan de Torquemada and Thomas Vio Cajetan to 20th century figures such as Charles Journet, the Thomistic tradition has enriched Catholic reflection on the nature of the Church. Beginning with some texts of St. Thomas Aquinas, this talk will offer a brief tour of this tradition’s theology of the Church, with a focus on three themes: the Mystical Body of Christ, the Church as the instrument of salvation and papal infallibility.

This is an online lecture. You can live-stream it on YouTube without registering, but if you register, we will send you a Zoom link via email and you will have an opportunity to submit questions to the speaker after the talk.
