Introduzione

The aim of this course is to become acquainted with the Poetical Books of the OT: The Prophets, The Psalms, and Wisdom books. The bent of this course is theological; it is hoped that the student can appreciate what these books have to tell us about God and His relationship with humanity. The first semester will deal with the prophets, where we will first emphasize the prophet as the “conscience of Israel” and explain the prophetic corpus. This will lead us into a study of each of the prophetic books within their historical context. In the second semester, we will exam the Psalms and Wisdom books. Here we will introduce the concept of “wisdom” and discuss its main dilemma. This will lead into an examination into the Psalms, focusing on the “wisdom psalms”, and then, each Wisdom book.
