Existerar Gud? Thomas av Aquinos gudsbevis i samtida belysning

Idag råder ett stort intresse för den medeltida teologen och filosofen Thomas av Aquino, som ofta betraktas som Katolska kyrkans ”husteolog”. Thomas var en stark försvarare av harmonin mellan tro och förnuft, och hans argument för Guds existens diskuteras fortfarande livligt i akademiska och andra sammanhang. Under detta föredrag ges en övergripande bild av Thomas ”vägar till Gud” och deras betydelse i den samtida debatten kring gudstro och ateism.

Today there is great interest in the thought of St Thomas Aquinas, the medieval theologian and philosopher who played a major role in shaping Catholic theology. Aquinas was a strong defender of the harmony between faith and reason, and his arguments for God’s existence are currently the focus of lively academic debate. This lecture gives an overview of Aquinas’s “ways to God” and their importance in the contemporary discussion about theism and atheism.

Mats Wahlberg, Fil. Dr,  är docent och universitetslektor i systematisk teologi vid Umeå universitet. Under vårterminen 2021 var han innehavare av Aquinas Chair for Visiting Scholars vid Angelicum i Rom. Han arbetar för närvarande med ett forskningsprojekt om teodicéproblemet, finansierat av John Templeton Foundation.

Mats Wahlberg, PhD, is Docent and Associate Professor of Systematic Theology at Umeå University, Sweden. In the spring semester 2021, he was the visiting Aquinas Chair at the Angelicum in Rome. He is currently working on a research project about theodicy, funded by the John Templeton Foundation.
