Seeking Truth: Thomas Aquinas and Islamic Thought in Dialogue

Professore

Course Description

In an age when Christian thinkers were rediscovering the treasures of ancient philosophy, and more particularly of Aristotle, Thomas had the great merit of giving pride of place to the harmony which exists between faith and reason.” (n. 43). In the light of this statement this course proposes to explore those questions addressed by Islamic philosophers and which have found a response in the writings of Thomas Aquinas by way of endorsement or criticism, both of which took place in an atmosphere of dynamic engagement with the issues addressed.
