Spiritual Direction & the Cura Animarum

This course focuses on spiritual direction and the care of souls as it can be understood within the Dominican tradition. We will examine particular theological topics such as divine providence, wisdom, prudence and decision making, the way of perfection, union with God, and the life of grace. We will focus on the role of counsel and friendship in the spiritual life and the instrumental role of the priest, in particular. This course will follow the teaching, especially, of Fr. Garrigou-Lagrange in The Three Ages of the Interior Life and his other works.
