Re-reading Veritatis Splendor

Professore

Course Description

In 1993 Pope John Paul II published Veritatis Splendor with the purpose of addressing the foundational principles of moral theology in response to a crisis caused by “beguiling doctrines” which undermined these principles. A few decades later the document still stands as a bulwark against moral errors. After examining the historical context of the document, this course will analyze the principles which safeguard “sound teaching” (VS 5; 2 Tim 4:3).
