The Prophetic Books of the Old Testament

Course Description

The aim of this course is to become acquainted with the Prophets and Prophetic literature of the OT. The bent of this course is theological; the emphasis shall be on what do the prophets tell us about God and about the true Israelite. The course shall be divided into two main parts. The first part shall discuss the nature of prophecy and who the true prophet is. The second part shall discuss: (i) the content and formation of the prophetic books; the distinction between canonical and chronological order of the prophetic books; and (iii) the important elements of each book.
