The Postdoctoral Program at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (PUST) offers the opportunity for scholars who have completed doctoral studies to continue their research in a specific area of study with one of the four Faculties (Theology, Philosophy, Canon Law, Social Sciences), or with one of the Institutes associated with the University (Ecumenical, Historical, Spirituality, Thomistic). The program allows for a variety of ways of participating in the academic life of the Angelicum community including research, participation in courses / seminars, serving as a guest lecturer, participation in public lectures / conferences, and possibly working as an assistant professor.
Applicants must have received a Canonical Doctoral Degree in Theology, Philosophy, Social Sciences, Canon Law. Students with a non-Canonical degree are required to first present all transcripts and a Curriculum Vitae to the Dean or Preside in order to determine whether they might be considered for postdoctoral studies at the PUST.
To be considered for a Postdoctoral position at the PUST, the candidate submits the following:
1. PUST Postdoctoral Registration form (for the Faculty of Theology contact: [email protected])
a. Priests: signed and sealed by the Rector of the College of Residence in Rome
b. Religious: signed and sealed by the local superior
c. Laity: no other signature is required
a. Commitment to and understanding of a vocation in theological education;
Laity: a letter from a Priest / Bishop
Applications should be submitted before September 15 (for the Fall semester) or January 15 (for the Spring semester). They will be reviewed by a committee composed of the Dean (or one of the Vice-Deans) and at least one stabile professor associated with the Faculty or Institute. (Others as determined by the Dean).
To be considered for a Postdoctoral position at the PUST, the candidate submits the following:
2. The postdoctoral fellow is responsible for housing, food, and all personal expenses.
At the conclusion of the program the fellow is requested to submit a short summary of their research to the Dean / Preside, signed by the fellow and the mentor.
