Patristic Trinitarian theology or Patristic Christology

Course Description

This course will trace the development of Trinitarian faith and formulation from the second century to the fourth century Trinitarian controversies (the “Arian” controversy). In celebration of the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea in 2025, the foucs of the course will be on the fourth century and on the legacy of that century for our faith today.The course will end with the Cappadocians in the East, but with Ambrose and Augustine in the West.
