Section Description

The program of the Ecumenical Section of the Faculty of Theology is coordinated by the Institute for Ecumenical Studies of the Angelicum. It aims to provide an academic qualification (Diploma, STL, STD) to clergy, religious and laity preparing to become teachers in ecumenism, directors of ecumenical offices, or simply requiring ongoing ecumenical formation. The program is based on the principles of the Decree Unitatis redintegratio of the Second Vatican Council, and the Directory for the Application of Principles and Norms on Ecumenism of the Catholic Church. The Section offers introductory mandatory courses and seminars, as well as optional specialized courses organized with other Sections of the Faculty of Theology. Although the Section concentrates primarily on ecumenism, attention is also given to interreligious studies, especially Judaism and Islam.
