Tillard Chair for the 25th anniversary of Ut unum sint

monthly cycle of conferences dedicated to the encyclical Ut unum sint (1995) will be held during the 2019–2020 academic year at the Angelicum in order to mark 25th anniversary of its publication.

The initiative is being jointly promoted by the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas – Angelicum and the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity within the ambit of the “Tillard Chair.”  The speakers are all leading figures in modern Christianity, and will speak on a range of issues related to the encyclical and the ecumenical movement.

The 2019–2010 cycle of conferences will feature: Fr. ENZO BIANCHI, Founder of the Monastery of Bose;  Dr. MARIA MARIA VOCE, President of the Focolare Movement; Rev’d OLAV FYKSE TVEIT, Secretary General Secretary of the World Council of Churches; Cardinal WALTER KASPER, President Emeritus of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity; His Beatitude SVIATOSLAV SHEVCHUK, Major Archbishop of the Ukrainian Greek–Catholic Church; Brother ALOIS, Prior of the Taizé Community; Metropolitan KALLISTOS WARE of the Ecumenical Patriarchate; Cardinal KURT KOCH, President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity.

The “Tillard Chair,” dedicated to ecumenism, was founded in 2003 at the Angelicum in honor of the famous French theologian and ecumenist, Fr. Jean-Marie Tillard O.P. (1927-2000). The Chair is part of the Program of the Ut unum sint course at the Angelicum.
