Fr. Simon Gaine OP appointed as ordinary member of the Pontifical Academy of St. Thomas Aquinas

Fr. Simon Gaine, OP, was appointed by the Cardinal Secretary of State as an ordinary member of the Pontifical Academy of St. Thomas Aquinas.   Fr. Simon, a friar of the Province of England, is the director of the Angelicum Thomistic Institute.

 

The Pontifical Academy of St. Thomas Aquinas, founded 15 October 1879, by Pope Leo XIII, fulfills its specific mission, which consists in “researching, defending and disseminating the doctrine of the Angelic Doctor, and, taking due account of today’s cultural conditions, in formulating with more diligence that part of the Thomistic doctrine which deals with humanity, since his statements on the dignity of the human person and the use of his reason are fully in keeping with the faith, make St. Thomas a master for our time.”
