Angelicum Alumnus Mgr. Janusz Urbanczyk appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Zimbabwe

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Mgr. Janusz Urbanczyk, until now Permanent Representative of the Holy See to the International Organisations in Vienna, as Apostolic Nuncio to Zimbabwe, raising him at the same time to the titular See of Voli, with the dignity of Archbishop.

 

H.E. Mgr. Janusz Urbańczyk was born in Kraszewo (Poland), on 19 May 1967. He was ordained a priest on 13 June 1992, incardinating in the Diocese of Elbląg.

He graduated in Canon Law at the Pontifical University of St Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) in 1996.

He entered the Holy See’s Diplomatic Service on 1 July 1997, and subsequently served in the Pontifical Representations in Bolivia, Slovakia, New Zealand, Kenya and at the UN in New York. Most recently, on 12 January 2015, he has been appointed Permanent Representative of the Holy See to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), to the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and to the Preparatory Commission of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO), as well as Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) and to the United Nations Office at Vienna.
