Content

Introduction to literary, historical, and theological analysis and reading of the Torah/ Pentateuch and Historical Books. Critical examination of various interpretive approaches employed in the contemporary study of the Torah/ Pentateuch with reference to the theories of its formation, historical settings, literary genre, comparative Ancient Near Eastern literature, canonical form. The pivotal role which this part of the Bible plays in the development of Jewish and Christian Scripture and traditions. Exegesis of select texts.
