Content

Introduction to literary, historical, and theological analysis and reading of the Pentateuch/Torah. Critical examination of various interpretive methods employed in the contemporary study of the Pentateuch/Torah Torah with reference to the theories of its formation, historical settings, literary genre, comparative Ancient Near Eastern literature. The pivotal role which this part of the Bible plays in the development of Jewish and Christian Scripture and thinking. Exegesis of select texts.
