In Memoriam: Fr. Joseph Henchey

In Memoriam: Fr. Joseph Henchey

It is with great sadness that the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas has heard of the passing of Fr. Joseph Henchey, alumnus and professor of the Angelicum, on April 7.

Father Henchey received a Doctorate in Sacred Theology from the Angelicum  in 1973. The title of his dissertation was “The Religious Life: Sacrament of Hope in the Teaching of the Second Vatican Council.’

He would go on to serve on as a professor at our university for over 20 years. He directed doctoral dissertations of more than forty priests, many of whom were named bishops.

May the soul of Fr. Joseph Henchey and all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
