Letter from the President of the Adjuvantes Onlus

Officially, we started in 2000. But for years we have been trying in every way to help the students of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Angelicum in Rome. A small faculty (150-200 students), where each person counts as both a student and a teacher, because we want to be a community of mutual learning and training as far as possible.

For this reason, students – even those from poorer countries – must be able to play a part in their own growth: with financial aid, housing and assistance from public administrations. Accompanied together towards a future that, at their age, has the right to be promising.

In the late 1990s we were also dealing with students who occasionally worked as gatherers in agriculture to earn a living, and with others who had never personally owned a book during their entire primary and secondary schooling.

We then laboriously sought funds and educational experiences in every place. We have learned to find what “this” student and “that” student really need, and we have slowly raised the learning and living standards of dozens of students. Among other things, it also brings together students from less wealthy countries, but with a good education, with those who are struggling to emerge from very serious national situations.

The various courses and programmes that we manage have helped to raise and focus our offerings.

The latest initiatives are the Diploma Program “Catholic Social Thought and Contemporary Society” and “Fix – Christian Integral Education” in e-learning mode, on Moodle platform. They are a further step on the endless path of educational solidarity.
