Introduzione

The intervention of the Church’s Magisterium, in the social, political, economic and cultural life of today’s world is a historical fact. It is an intervention that is justified by the very mission of the Church which “although it is religious and not social or political, cannot fail to consider man in the entirety of his being” (III CELAM III.2).

This introductory course is an intensive study of the principles of reflection, criteria of judgment and directives for action that inform the mission of the Church in the world on the economic, social, political and cultural fields as well as a theoretical and historical-critical study of the Petrine social magisterium.

The main sources will be the Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church and the social encyclicals from Rerum Novarum to Fratelli Tutti.
