From an initial definition of counseling, the differences between counseling and psychology are analyzed. Great attention will be placed on the methodologies and techniques used by the counselor, ie empathic listening, observation of verbal-non verbal signals of the body recognition of emotions. Furthermore, the counseling will be connected to the spiritual sphere and the various theoretical orientations will be analyzed regarding the possibility of integration between the psychological and religious fields.
