Mariology and the Sense of Mystery: The Virgin Mary and the Practice of Catholic Theology

On 7 December 2023, Fr. Thomas Joseph White, O.P., our Rector, was awarded the title of “Master of Theology” by the Dominican Order.  The ceremony for the conferral of this title took place at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas (Angelicum) in Rome.

 

This award, among the most prestigious of those given by the Order of Preachers, is an honorary academic title awarded in recognition of important achievements in the field of theology and contributions to the promotion of studies in the Order.

 

On this occasion, Fr. Thomas Joseph gave a lecture on ‘Mariology and the Sense of Mystery: The Virgin Mary and the Practice of Catholic Theology’.
The lecture was followed by a reception in the Sala Colonne.

 

Fr. Thomas Joseph White is the Rector Magnificus of the Pontifical University of St. Thomas (Angelicum) in Rome. Originally from southeast Georgia, USA, Father Thomas Joseph studied at Brown University, where he converted to Catholicism. He received his doctorate in theology from Oxford University. He is a member of the Province of St Joseph in the United States of America.
