Meaning of Art in Christianity in the Modern World-Prof. R. Brague
Christian art was made possible by the conjunction of the Greco-Biblical assumption of the essential goodness and beauty of whatever exists and of the New Testament witness to Salvation through the Passion of Jesus-Christ. Late Modernity brought about a revolution in the very ideas of art and of beauty. Together with possible dangers, this might be a chance for christian art, freed from any temptation of idolizing human craftsmanship or the Beautiful itself and brought back to its ancillary function.
