Prof. Jean-Luc Marion, recipient of Ratzinger Prize, will speak at the Angelicum
Everyone is invited to attend the Saint John Paul II Institute of Culture’s lecture presented by Prof. Jean-Luc Marion (Academie Française/University of Chicago) this Thursday, 18 November. The lecture, entitled “The Phenomenological Openness of Revelation”, will start at 4.30 PM in Aula Minor and will also be livestreamed:
Prof. Marion is a French historian of philosophy, phenomenologist, and Roman Catholic theologian. He has held chairs at both the Sorbonne and the University of Chicago. Awarded with the 1992 Grand Prix du Philosophie de l’Académie Française, the 2008 Karl Jaspers Prize, as well as the 2020 Ratzinger Prize. Jean-Luc Marion is a former student of Jacques Derrida whose work is informed by patristic and mystical theology, phenomenology, and modern philosophy. This past week he was the 2021 recipient of the Ratzinger Prize in virtue of his philosophical work.
