Vice Rector appointed Consultor to Dicastery for the Promotion of Integral Human Development
On November 11, the Angelicum received the good news that the Holy Father appointed Sr. Helen Alford OP, our Vice Rector, as Consultor to the Dicastery for the Promotion of Integral Human Development (DPIHD). According to the Apostolic Letter of Pope Francis which instituted this new Dicastery, it is “competent particularly in issues regarding migrants, those in need, the sick, the excluded and marginalized, the imprisoned and the unemployed, as well as victims of armed conflict, natural disasters, and all forms of slavery and torture.” For many years, Sr. Helen had already been a Consultor to the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, which was the predecessor of the DPIHD, and follows the Holy Father’s nomination of her as an Ordinary Member of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences earlier in 2020.
